Hello world!

First post on Asciiporn.us. I’ll start with a small FAQ (a bigger frequently asked questions section will follow later):

What is ASCII?
The original Ascii Character encoding was first published in 1967. Basically, it’s just 95 characters and a set of control characters.
The 95 chars are:

!"#$%&'()*+,-./0123456789:;< =>?
@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[\]^_
`abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~

You might notice that the images displayed on this site include more than these 95 chars. Pure Ascii art has its own charm, but you’ll see that the extended ISO 8859 character set is much better for converting images.

What is Porn?
